Growth Profile

Understand the child beneath the behaviour

A personalised 20-page profile to help you see your child's strengths, needs and potential more clearly, and respond in ways that help them grow.

Two sample Growth Profile reports prepared by stART Studio

Every child has a unique way of thinking, feeling, communicating and responding to the world

When a child struggles with confidence, emotions, learning, friendships or behaviour, it can be difficult for parents to know what is really happening beneath the surface.

The Growth Profile brings different pieces of your child's story together, helping you understand not only what you are seeing, but what your child may be feeling, needing and trying to communicate.

When you know your child, you can guide them differently

You may be wondering:

Why does my child react so strongly to certain situations?

Why does my child seem confident in one setting but withdraw in another?

Why does my child resist instructions even when I have explained repeatedly?

Is my child unmotivated, or is something else making it difficult to begin?

How can I communicate without every conversation becoming a struggle?

What strengths might I be overlooking because I am focused on the current problem?

The Growth Profile helps you step back from the immediate behaviour and see a more complete picture of your child.

More than a description of personality

Personally prepared, never templated

The Growth Profile is not a generic personality report or a template based on one category.

Each profile is personally prepared by Elfin Ng using the information provided about your child's development, experiences, behaviour, relationships and environment. Parent and teacher perspectives are considered together wherever available. These insights are interpreted through Elfin's more than 25 years of experience supporting and mentoring over 2,000 children, preteens, teenagers and families.

The purpose is not to define your child. It is to help the important adults around your child understand them more deeply and nurture them with greater clarity and intention.
What your personalised Growth Profile explores

Nine windows into your child

Your child's strengths

Recognise the qualities, inner resources and natural capabilities that may already be present in your child.

Growth areas

Understand where your child may need more guidance, reassurance, structure, practice or emotional support.

Communication guidance

Learn how your child may receive words, correction and encouragement, and how you can communicate in ways that preserve connection and build cooperation.

Emotional and behavioural patterns

Consider what may be contributing to recurring reactions, withdrawal, frustration, resistance or difficulty expressing needs.

Family context

Explore how relationships, expectations, routines and experiences at home may influence how your child feels and responds.

School context

Bring together relevant feedback about how your child learns, participates, relates to others and manages challenges in the school environment.

Nurture guidance

Receive practical suggestions for supporting your child's confidence, resilience, emotional development and growing independence.

Natural abilities and emerging talents

Notice interests, strengths and possible areas of potential that may be nurtured as your child develops.

Future possibilities

Explore broad fields and environments that may suit your child's natural qualities and developing strengths. These are possibilities for reflection, not fixed predictions or decisions about your child's future.

How the process works

Four steps, personally handled

Share your child's information

You will complete a detailed parent questionnaire about your child's background, strengths, behaviour, relationships, interests and current concerns.

The form may also request your child's full name, date of birth, time of birth and place of birth. These details provide an additional reflective lens when complete information is available.

Invite a teacher's perspective

Where possible, input from a teacher or another adult who knows your child well helps us understand how your child presents in a different environment.

If teacher feedback is unavailable, the profile can still be prepared, but some school-related insights may be more limited.

Your profile is personally prepared

Elfin reviews and brings together the information provided to develop an individualised profile of your child.

No information is guessed. If certain details are unavailable, the relevant areas will be omitted or clearly identified as limited.

Meet Elfin for your consultation

During your 30-minute consultation, Elfin will guide you through the key insights, answer your questions and help you identify practical ways to support your child moving forward.

Who is the Growth Profile for?

For parents of children and young people aged 5 to 18

The Growth Profile may be helpful for parents who want to:

  • Understand their child beyond the behaviour they see
  • Recognise strengths that may not always be obvious
  • Communicate with their child more effectively
  • Support a child experiencing low confidence or emotional struggles
  • Better understand recurring conflict, resistance or withdrawal
  • Bring parent and teacher perspectives together
  • Make more thoughtful decisions about guidance and support
  • Nurture their child's abilities without imposing a fixed path
What the Growth Profile is not

A reflective guidance resource, not a diagnosis

The Growth Profile is a developmental and reflective guidance resource. It is not:

  • A medical or psychological diagnosis
  • A clinical assessment
  • A substitute for professional mental-health, developmental or medical support
  • A label that defines who your child is
  • A prediction of your child's future

If your child is experiencing serious emotional distress, self-harm behaviour, safety concerns or significant developmental difficulties, please seek support from an appropriately qualified healthcare or mental-health professional. The Growth Profile may complement other support, but it does not replace it.

Frequently asked questions

Before you enquire

Does my child need to attend an assessment?

No formal assessment session is required. The profile is prepared using the information provided by parents and, where available, teachers or other adults who know the child well.

Why is teacher feedback helpful?

Children may behave differently at home and in school. A teacher's perspective can provide additional information about your child's learning, participation, peer relationships and response to guidance.

Can the profile be completed without teacher feedback?

Yes. However, the school-context portion may be more limited. The quality and depth of the profile depend on the completeness and accuracy of the information provided.

What if I do not know my child's exact time of birth?

Please provide only information you know to be accurate. No birth-based interpretation will be guessed. If the required details are incomplete, that part will simply be omitted.

Will the profile tell me what career my child should pursue?

No. It may highlight natural abilities, emerging talents and broad fields worth exploring, but it will not prescribe a career or determine your child's future. Your child's interests, experiences and final agency must always be respected.

Can the profile diagnose ADHD, autism or another condition?

No. The Growth Profile is not a diagnostic assessment. If you have developmental, psychological or medical concerns, please consult an appropriately qualified professional.

Can I ask questions about the report?

Yes. Your Growth Profile includes a 30-minute private consultation with Elfin, during which she will explain the key insights and answer relevant questions.

Your child is more than the struggle you see today

A change in understanding can begin a change in the relationship

The Growth Profile gives you a clearer lens through which to see your child: not as someone who needs to be fixed, but as someone who is still growing and needs to be understood.
